Help Build LI-BER-T House

As you may know, I am personally involved in an important social project – helping women escape the vicious cycles of addiction, criminality and poverty upon their release from prison or addiction rehab.  These are women in their most vulnerable, fragile state – attempting to restart and transform their lives with scant alternatives but to return to the same circumstances that provoked the cycle to begin with. LI-BER-T House seeks to change that. At this moment, however, we are at a crossroads. We require funding to see our vision realized.  

LI-BER-T House is a brick and mortar project; its mission is to provide women in our communities with a safe environment, to empower and enlighten them, to provide the tools and skills they need to become productive and contributing members of our society.  Liane Berry is our passionate and dedicated Executive Director.  As a recovering addict and ex-criminal, she knows first-hand the plight of these women.  Liane found sobriety through perseverance and the support of others; she is one of the lucky ones who lived to tell her story.  Her recently published memoir, Seven Times Rise, recounts that long and painful struggle. Today Liane is a productive member of society whose energies are solely focused on making LI-BER-T House a reality.   

As a member of the LI-BER-T House Board of Directors, I am deeply committed to its mandate.  The Board has invested significant time, energy and funds to develop this project but we are at the point now where we must reach out. Please help me raise much needed funds to help LI-BER-T House pay for critical development projects including: obtaining our Canadian Revenue Agency Charitable number; legal and professional fees related to the establishment of the LI-BER-T House charitable organisation; rent and start-up funds for the physical location, currently under consideration; further development of the LI-BER-T House Website and other communications requirements.  

I fully understand that your charitable donation dollars are precious and that choosing the right project is critical. Please know that I would not be contacting you today were I not convinced that your donation will allow us to not only establish LI-BER-T House but to start saving and empowering neglected and at-risk women in our communities, and by extension improving our society for all. A comprehensive report of all donations received and all associated expenditures by LI-BER-T House will be provided upon request.
