Help Ben Kalish Fight Ewings Sarcoma

Ben is a 21 year old college student who was set to graduate May 2020, until we received heartbreaking news that will put his plans on hold for at least a year. On May 23, 2019 an MRI showed a mass on Ben's lower spine. That very same day, we drove him up to UCLA's emergency room
for further test. UCLA admitted Ben for two nights and did many tests including a CT scan which showed the tumor mass, and, tumors on his lungs and 1 rib. They were able to get a biopsy from the lung lesion, which was way safer then going into the spine. When the results came back we were devastated that his diagnoses was Ewing's Sarcoma, an extremely aggressive and rare type of cancer. Ben was released from the hospital on May 25th with a referral to an Oncology team, headed up by Dr. Singh who specializes in this type of cancer. Thankfully, we were able to get an appointment with Dr. Singh on May 29th, and from there found out treatment will last a full year. Ben had a port put in 2 days later, and his first
outpatient chemo treatment was on June 4th. His next treatment is 3 weeks later involving 5 days of chemo therapy in the hospital. His treatments will alternate this way for the next year!
Needless to say, this has turned our lives upside down, especially Ben who was looking forward to his senior year at Biola University, summer
break, a possible new, exciting job opportunity etc. The Doctor recommended we cancel our family summer vacation, and, for Ben to take
a the whole year off of school. Although, he hopes to take a few online courses so he won't be a full year behind.
Also heartbreaking, is seeing Ben in so much pain, and, how sick the first round of Chemo made him. His hair started falling out, so, his amazing, supportive group of friends had a big head shaving party turning an overwhelming situation into a more lighthearted, funny time with friends.
This has put Ben and our family in a very difficult stage in life, but we, along with all of our friends are positive that he will beat this! We believe in the power of prayer and positive thoughts and are asking for those to be sent Ben's way. In addition, the treatment and everyday payments are stacking up. Along with prayer, many people have been asking how they can help, and asked us to set up this page. If you choose to donate either monetarily through this page, or, with prayers, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Truly anything helps and we are grateful for any donations.
All funds will be used for Ben's care. If any funds are left over at the end of treatment, we will donate it to Ewing's Sarcoma research.
We will update everyone at least monthly about Ben's progress.
