HELP FAMILY PET IN NEED OF SURGERY

Donation protected
This is my big soppy guy Stoic, I got him from Great Dane Rescue who found him wandering the streets he wasn't even a year old when they found him, and I have had him just under a year. He was still painfully under weight and his fur was thin in places, and he barked at everything that he was frightened of, including his own shadow. He is convinced he's a lap dog and follows me everywhere. He now is a huge part of our family including 3 Autistic children all under 8 years of age who need him just as much as I do as he senses their moods and can comfort them in ways I cannot. He also encourages them to venture outside which is something they can struggle with, this makes him so valuable to me as he has become their thearapy pet, and mine as he knows when I am stressed he will come and lie next to me and before I know it he has put his head in my lap and taken my stress away .  Over the short time I have had him I have worked with him to build up his confidence, and was getting brave enough to make friends with other dogs, and now he has a group of friends who we walk with and he shares the smells of the park  with and play with. He's just a big goof.

When we first got him one of my daughters wanted to change his name as she had a friend called Theo, she wanted to call him Disney, she said that he would make all our dreams come true.  But we went with Stoic which she also chose but only because she wasn't happy that I didn't want to walk round the field calling Disney and then have this Great Dane come loloping along. The only thing I can say is that she was right he has made our dreams come true or at the very least filled a whole that I never knew was there.

Just after Christmas he was playing in the park  with a new friend when he hurt his leg. I took him straight to the vet fearing that he had broken his leg.  Unfortunately the damage to his leg was caused by malnourishment in the first year of his life and e boistrtess play had aggrevaited it further, and that he would need surgery. I wasn't worried as I have insurance, what I didn't realise is that the insurance would not cover the total cost of the treatment and specialists that he has got to see. Unfortunately due to being malnourished when he was living on the streets prior to being rescued, his muscles are very weak and he now requires major surgery to both of his back legs especially in the knee joint area.

This is where you come in, you beautiful people, I desperately need your help and your generosity to help him to run and walk without pain and be the giant puppy that he still is.  If you could share this post with family and friends and donate 10p, 50p or a £1 that would be such an amazing thing and an unfathamable kindness.

The surgery is very costly and he will require 2 seperate operations which are  extreamly expensive due to his size and the damage done through malnusihment is so severe.  All funds will go towards his surgery which will happen March/May 2018 and towards his on going treatment and recovery.  The vets and staff at the practice are amazing and kind and helpful and he has touched all their hearts and I know if you met the Goofball he would do the same to you.

With the general donations from people like you, you know who you are and your genersity makes you amazing and I can't THANK YOU enough. Stoic will be able to walk and run without pain, we will  be able to meet up with his friends in the park who I know are missing him terribly and he can be the dog he is meant to be.
THANK YOU for your donations or just for sharing this post.
