HELP BECKY FIGHT BREAST CANCER

Donation protected
On January 10th my sister Becky received call that will forever alter the life of her and her family.

In October Becky went for her annual mammogram. The results came back fine. About a week later she felt a lump on her right breast. She immediately went to her primary care provider. More testing was ordered and eventually a biopsy of the area was done. Unfortunately, the lump she felt was a tumor. She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

On January 31st Becky had a bilateral mastectomy. Once she recovers from the surgery she will need to undergo a year of chemotherapy.

Becky and her family are an active part of the Gray-New Gloucester community. Her 3 daughters Kate (11), Jessica (14) and Alison (16) all attend the area schools. Becky substitute teaches at both Memorial and Dunn Schools. Having always been a runner, she assistant coaches both Spring track and Cross Country Running in the fall.

Becky’s entire family participates in several races each year. Both for their love of running as a family and to help support any area causes.

Becky’s oncologist has recommended she not continue with substitute teaching or coaching due to her weakened immune system and fatigue.

In addition to losing the income she contributes to her family, there will be added expenses that her insurance will not cover.

We are all hopeful that a year from now we can look back on what is sure to be the most difficult year of this family’s life and sigh with relief that it is over and can be put behind us. Unfortunately for Becky, her memories will always be…before cancer and “After I kicked Cancer’s Ass”!! She is strong and otherwise extremely healthy so we have no reason to believe this will not be the case.

Becky is humbled beyond words with the amount of support she has already received from family and friends. The meals people have donated have been so appreciated! Now we are reaching out for just a little more help. No amount is too small. Every little bit helps!

Thank you in advance for your kindness and support!
