Help Arlene Peterson Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Our beloved Arlene Peterson, vivacious lead singer of The Light of Day Band of Cleveland, Ohio, has stage four cancer & is involved in the battle of her life.  She is desperately in need of funds NOW to cover treatment not covered by insurance.
Her journey with cancer started four years ago, at Christmas time, the worst possible time for difficult news, when she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.  The cancer has metastasized at this time to stage 4 bone cancer.
The purpose of this GoFundMe site is to raise money for Arlene to assist in her medical bills, continuing treatment not covered by insurance and overall living expenses.  Let’s get these donations coming in since Arlene is desperately needing additional treatment that will not be covered by her insurance. Why we have chosen the GoFundMe site for the coordination and collection of funds for Arlene due to their track record for transparency & the receipt for giving afforded to the donors.  Here are some facts directly from the GoFundMe site: Your donation is protected. It takes a leap of faith to help someone else. That’s why we want to honor your generosity by backing it up with the first and only guarantee for crowdfunding: the GoFundMe Guarantee.  Funds go to the right place. Every day, thousands of people get the help they need from generous donors. Our team of specialists work night and day to make sure that funds get to the intended recipient, every time. If funds aren’t delivered to the right person, we will donate the missing amount. All donations go directly into Arlene Peterson’s personal bank account.
If you are not skilled with the computer, we are having various fundraisers at The Light of Day Bands’ upcoming venues and will help you in person upon arrival with your GoFundMe contribution coordination on the computer.  Just as for Cindy Gorsica, Arlene's Campaign Coordinator and she will be happy to assist you.  The venues will be posted to this site, as well as, the announcements on the various wineries’ and restaurants’ individual sites.
NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!  If 5,000 people even contribute $1 - well, we can all do that math!!!!

No Cover Charge   Throughout the years at all of the wineries and restaurant/bar facilities where The Light of Day Band has performed, fans have never paid a cover charge to listen to this remarkably talented band & its vivacious lead singer, Arlene Peterson.
Now it is our time, all of the fans, all of the friends, all of the colleagues, all of her clients, fellow parishioners, alumni, everyone she has touched, NOW it is our turn to reach deep into our pockets and show Arlene how much she is loved & always the GIVER, have her on the “receiving end” for a change!

Arlene’s Story : Arlene was forced to leave a job she thoroughly enjoyed, after 17 years at The Cleveland Clinic, due to the effects of her cancer & debilitating treatment.  She began working at the Beachwood location of The Cleveland Clinic 2000 as a Medical Records Clerk.  Through hard work and dedication, she was promoted as supervisor of that department until 2017, until she was forced to retire due to her health issues. Through the painful & at times, humiliating treatments, hair loss, double mastectomy & effects of chemo therapy & radiation during this four-year period, Arlene continues to smile, hold on to God & husband Brian Bowie and family and friends with both hands, and keep on giving of her multiple gifts to others.
The epitome of a Giver! This loss of income and additional medical-related expenses, has had a major impact on the Bowie family household expenses, adding additional stress at a time when she should be avoiding stress at all costs.  As If It Wasn’t Bad Enough While dealing with the rigors of her illness, chemotherapy & radiation, Arlene’s beloved cat, Cosmo, passed away in August of 2016.  Her constant companion and cuddle cat, Cosmo regularly starred in antics on Arlene’s facebook page, and acquired his own fan base. Arlene also suffered the passing of her beloved father, Paul L. Peterson, Sr., in 2015 while she was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.  Arlene’s mother, Eva Peterson, had passed away in 1989. Arlene is very close with her Godmother, Betti Barker-Bay.   Always The Giver Always spreading the love, Arlene was a Nanny early in life & her clients all attended her wedding to Brian Bowie on August 29, 1998, showing their love and support to a woman who loved & treated their children with the utmost respect and love.
The Light of Day Band.   Her love story with Brian Bowie began as a very strong friendship and in 1977,  41 years ago, she joined Brian’s band & became its rocking hot talented lead singer.
Loving each other, loving performing, working full time jobs in addition to performing, it all changed in 2014 with the beginning of Arlene’s battle with cancer.  She energetically & readily tells you that she married the love of her life. This powerhouse of song & energy started juggling her performances now with cancer treatment, working full time, and experiencing the consequences of her treatments. Fans drive from New York, Pennsylvania and all throughout Ohio and beyond to hear her rock the house at the top wineries in the Geneva, Harpersfield Township, Madison, and Ashtabula venues, all summer long, and Martini’s Restaurant and Lounge at the former Harbor Golf Course location, Ashtabula, Ohio, and Pastina Rustic Italian Restaurant in Mentor, Ohio, during the summer and throughout the year. Weddings, corporate events, clubs and social venues for the arts’ organizations in the Cleveland & surrounding areas are additional special venues where they have performed. Her dynamic, unbelievable voice puts chills down your spine with her vocals & her great sense of humor and love of the audience, make her performances unforgettable.
Reaching deep down inside her for the strength to belt it out for her audiences on the weekends, she definitely is “the light”, in more ways than one. The Light of Day Band is a family affair. This dynamic band is comprised of six very talented musicians: Lead by husband and wife team Brian Bowie and Arlene Peterson and rounded off by Brian’s brother Bernard “Butch” Bowie, his high school friend, Chris Stennis, high school friend Joe Moon, and, Sam Bell who is newest member to the band and helps to carry the load for Arlene with vocals.   Great Faith of the Singing Angel Like most singers, Arlene started in the church choir.  In the late 1970s, she joined a gospel group, The Twilights of Joy.  This group was very popular throughout the city of Cleveland, where they sang at different church functions, nursing homes, schools and other events throughout the city.  To this day, they still get together and enjoy singing 40 years later. The light that shines through Arlene is the result of her unshakeable faith.  A member of New Birth Fellowship Church, Cleveland, Ohio, under the leadership of Pastor Cavor, Arlene brings her angelic voice & contagious energy to this congregation, doing her part as a loyal member.
