Send Aldrin Elementary Robotics Team BuzzBots to VEX Worlds!
About us:
BuzzBots is a VEQ IQ Robotics team based at Aldrin Elementary School in Reston, VA. The team consists of one 5th grade and two 6th grade students.
Our project, "aRCHie", advanced Robotic Companion Horse - blood pressure measuring robot, is based on the " Three Laws and Ethics of Robotics" (A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm, a robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law, a robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law)
We visited Bright View Assisted Living Facility to present and to observe how residents interact with the prototype “aRCHie”. We confirmed that the prototype operates according to the “Three Laws”.
The team won 1st place in STEM Research category at Virginia State VEX IQ competition.
Based on this achievement at the State competition, we are invited to participate in the VEX IQ World Championship tournament to be held in Louisville, Kentucky in April 2018.
Funding Needs
* Registration Fee $975 - has been generously paid by our school Parents-Teachers Association !
* VEX IQ Robot Shipment to Kentucky Expo Center and Parts $500 - we already got this covered through team's matching donations !
To fully fund the team for the VEX World championship, a total of $6,000 is still needed:
* Travel Expense $5,500
* Booth Design $500
Taking part in a competition of this caliber would be experience of a lifetime. We are excited to represent our school and Commonwealth of Virginia, and will do our best to make you all proud.
Thank you for helping make our robotics dream a reality!
