Help Aashi beat Batten Disease!
6-year old Aashi Patel is suffering from a rare and terrible neurological disorder called BATTEN Disease. The disease strikes in early childhood and gradually, the child loses his/her motor skills (walking, talking, eating, moving around, etc.) Aashi's symptoms started when she was approximately 3 years old --- her gait became wobbly and she fell down often. At first, the diagnosis was Epilepsy but after a year of extensive doctor appointments, labs, tests, Aashi received the dreadful diagnosis in December 2016 of BATTEN Disease. Currently, she is confined to a wheelchair and the majority of her muscles have atrophied. In March 2019, Aashi will be going to Texas for clinical trials involving genome therapy which could help her, however, this research and treatment is very expensive. With your help, Aashi could potentially receive life-saving treatment. But time is not on our side, as each day goes by, BATTEN continues to take a toll on Aashi.
