Every day, conflict and persecution force nearly 34,000 people – 24 people per minute – to flee their homes in search of safety. The world is currently witnessing the highest levels of displacement on record: over 21 million refugees – and nearly half of those are children under the age of 18. Save the Children is there for children at every point in their journeys as refugees: from origin countries, refugee camps and conflict zones; throughout the journey across the Mediterranean Sea and in transit countries. Save the Children keeps children safe and builds their resilience. They protect girls and boys from violence, trafficking and exploitation & identify the most vulnerable children – including those traveling alone – and ensure they have safe places to stay, play, learn, receive emotional support and have pathways that help them rebuild their lives.
