We know that the Trump administration’s cruel and inhumane family separation policy at our borders has affected you in a deep way.
Your hearts have broken with ours when you read stories like this one , about a little 6 year old girl being sexually and physically abused twice after she was separated from her mother for OVER 50 DAYS.
To make matters worse, after the first incident, the little girl (D.L.) was forced to sign a document stating that it was her responsibility to stay away from the abuser:
The trauma of separation from a loving parent is already severe enough to affect a child’s entire life. But to add this kind of horror to it is unimaginable.
This is completely unacceptable!
We know you often feel helpless to do anything, but now you can directly help the family in the Nation story linked above.
We are in close touch with the family and will give 100% of all money raised directly to them.
Please help get them back on their feet; the money raised will go towards medical and psychological services for the little girl and therapy for her parents as well, towards a safe and peaceful place to live, and any other needs they have.
We cannot reveal any of the family’s personal details for both their privacy and also due to their ongoing asylum case, but we can assure you they are immensely grateful to receive your help.

1) I am Anna Tarkov, the Media & Communications Director of Families Belong Together (familiesbelong.org)
2) I'm originally from the former USSR; I was born in Kiev and immigrated to the US with my family in 1989 at the age of 8. Currently I live in the Chicago suburbs.
3) Our relationship to this family is that of being in a position to use our platform to raise money and offer them aid. The father contacted us via our FB page, desperate to get his wife and daughter reunited and reunite with them himself. We have been in close contact with him throughout this process. He is very grateful for the generosity that people have shown his family.
4) The funds will be used to repay substantial legal debts totaling approximately $14,000. The remainder will be used for therapy for the family, the little girl, possibly rent/a deposit on a place to live, and other expenses.
5) We initially thought the family could withdraw on their own, but it seems you need a SS# which obviously none of them have. So we will withdraw the funds and we plan to wire them the money. Alternately, we may go through the nonprofit that Mark Lane, their advocate, works with.
