Maui Family Loses 2nd Son (in 3yrs)

Donation protected
In the early morning hours of October 17th 2016, Jason Shriner quietly left his home, drove to a secluded area wherein he walked into a field and took his own life.

Jason, a United States Marine, had survived Afghanistan, only to come home and lose the battle to PTSD. It is estimated that 22 Veterans a day commit suicide (taking their lives and leaving families shattered by such a heavy loss). x x

My husband's family is no different.

However, Jason shouldn't be considered as just a statistic. To those who love him, he was more than that. To his friends and family, a statistic didn't give "the world's best hug." To his loved ones, a statistic didn't dance or smile or had given unwavering support to those who needed it (he even made the extra effort to be there for his nephew, Mikel, who lost his father, Jason's younger brother).  To my husband, a statistic wasn't a beloved sibling. Jason was more than just a number -- he was an irreplaceable part of my husband's family.

(Their heartbreak is made more palpable by the fact that he was the second son lost within a span of three years -- in 2013, Joshua, Mikel's father and Jason's brother, was tragically killed in a motocycle accident.)

As is the way of the world, Jason's family resides from many States (California, Washington, Texas, and Hawaii). When the family had lost Joshua three years prior, due to time and distance (and unfortunately lack of funds), of those that lived in Hawaii, only his father and bonus mom were able to attend the services in Arizona alongside those that already reside on the mainland. For this occassion (full military service to be held in Arizona in the later part of next month, November), Jason's loved ones wish for the entirety of his family (especially those that live in Hawaii, his brother [my husband], sister [and her kids], father and bonus mom to attend.

We are seeking donations to help bring everyone together at this devastating time to say goodbye.  The donations will be used to cover the family's travel and lodging expenses. If the total donated funds exceed what is needed to help cover travel expenses, a donation in Jason's name will be made to the organization Stop Soldier Suicide .

Any donation would be very much appreciated! If you're unable to donate, please share.
