Help A Dreamer Go To College
Meet Kamile. Kamile is a 17-year-old friend of my daughter. In September, 2017 our daughter came to my wife and me and outlined a horrible story of neglect and mental abuse from Kamile’s alcoholic mother. The relationship was so toxic that we decided to take in Kamile and have her stay with us. Kamile has had a rough life going back to when she was 12 and witnessed her father physically abusing her mother. She phoned the police and saw her father led away in handcuffs. Kamile has no contact with her father and he has since returned to his home land of Lithuania. As Kamile’s senior year winds down the focus has started on college. Kamile is exceptionally bright and wants to be an accountant someday. My wife and I have helped Kamile with touring campus’ and the application process, including fees. But here’s where it gets precarious. Kamile is ineligible to receive federal loans. My wife and I have two children of our own, one that will be entering college in the fall of 2018 and another that will be entering college in the fall of 2020. I can tell you without doubt Kamile is a hard worker and dedicated studier. She maintains a 3.7 GPA and has a part time job. Kamile has been accepted into several Pennsylvania state Universities which she hopes to attend in the Fall of 2018. With the permission of Kamile I am starting this GoFundMe request to fulfill her dream of attending college and to try and ensure that a young promising mind isn’t wasted due to unfortunate circumstances that were out of her control.
