Thank again so much for reaching out to help Shantee, and 15 year old twins Franchon and Deshawn, as the family battles the Cancer within Shantee's lungs and body.
A little more background on how amazing this family is.
The boys are so special because of the way Shantee has raised them. She has been a single parent from day one. Funny story, the boys still have had a 9PM bedtime, they still sit right beside her and before she lost her hair, twirled it around their fingers as they sat next to her. Their bond is strong and the love is ever present. She is a determined and caring mother. She does her best to make sure they need for nothing and get every opportunity possible which has been difficult. She has worked retail since the boys were small so finances have always been a challenge, but she takes it in stride, making ends meet and maintaining the shoes on the boys ever growing feet (they can eat!).
The boys are so polite and jump at any request of their mother and grandmother. You will never see either of them sit by and watch a woman carry the groceries or carry anything more than their purse without the boys jumping up to help. They carefully watch over their mother as she sleeps and watch that she needs nothing. Right now they are her rock through these trying times as Shantee battles this challenge of Cancer.
The boys are so strong, yet I feel for their hearts. The boys have already suffered the loss of two very prominent "father figure" role models in their short lives. Their uncle, who taught them to ride a bike, fish, ride the roller coasters, all kinds of adventures, passed then they were in elementary school, then a few short years later their grandfather, Shantee's father, whom they shared their home with and whom Shantee cared for through his bout with Cancer as well, passed only a few years ago. Now it is their job to watch over both their mother who struggles just to be able to eat to maintain her strength, and their grandmother who is in in fragile health as well.
I pray for their strength during this challenging time and also look upon them as my hero's.
