Hearts In Motion: Mission Trip

Greetings family and friends!
I pray that this letter finds you and your family well. Recently, I have found out that I was accepted into a study abroad program to Guatemala on Mar 8 -17,2019. This study abroad program is actually a medical mission trip led by faculty members from Washington State University. I feel very blessed, and absolutely ecstatic that I am able to help people in poverty. This opportunity is led by a non-profit organization “Hearts in Motion” based in Highland, Indiana. This is going to be a life changing experience for me, now that I am in my fourth year as a Pre-Dentistry student. As many of you already know, I have wanted to become a dentist since I was able to see a dentist, and this opportunity is exactly what I need to help propel my future in the medical field even further.
Together with our team of other compassionate volunteers, we will provide medical, dental services, cleft palate surgeries and dental education awareness to impoverished Guatemalans in indigenous communities such as Zacapa and La Antigua. Guatemala is predominantly poor country that struggles in several areas of health and development, including infant, child, and maternal mortality, malnutrition, literacy and contraceptive awareness and use. As with most of Guatemala, Zacapa and La Antigua suffer from terrible poverty.
I would like to give my heart and soul to this commitment, and with your help, every penny will be appreciated by being a sponsor for this mission trip and help me raise $3,000 to subsidize the cost as a volunteer. This money would cover fees of the mission trip, transportation, food, and partly my tuition because I will be receiving academic credits in biology by going on this mission trip.
I have always dreamt of going on a volunteer mission trip, and I cannot wait to use my medical knowledge for those who are truly in need. The people in these countries do not have access to adequate health care, but with our help we may be able to bring back hope to them.
