Growing up as an artist in Boston is not easy for everyone. There are so many artists from the city who lack confidence or do not have the funds to produce the art their brains are creating.
In September of 2015 I went to an arts collaborative located in Roxbury, Massachusetts for a birthday party and I left with so much more. While being there I learned I was inside of the Inner Sanctum and had a chance to meet the founder of the space; I was taken aback, the artist and their conversations/dreams, and the possibilities. I began to attend more events there, then I put my mind to work, I quit my job at the emergency shelter and I have not looked back since.
Now we are in September 2017 and the amount of work that has been done is immeasurable. Lives have been changed, hope and confidence has been instilled into many, and art has been given a new life in Boston. Art appreciation and support is at an all time high and now is the time to push through the glass ceilings and come together for ART, for one another, and for a cause bigger than ourselves.
During my two years at the Inner Sanctum I created an event series called Art Plug , hosted weekly meetings for artist talks, supported individual artist leading them on to a successful future, kickstarted several careers, and working around the clock ensuring I can provide services for artists when they feel they need me.
I am Cauctease , Cauctease is a vessel/foundation for many others to plant their feet on. I am the unconventional professional, the father, so to speak. Using metaphors in real life situations and riding on my sarcastic nature; the name is most suitible for me to get my full point accross. A CAUCUS is a group of 'artists' with shared concerns in a political party. However, we are more or less political in our modern day but we must remain mindful and knowledgeable. A TEASE is a person who provokes others in playful ways. This is where ART PLUG comes in.
Art Plug is a phenomemon ( I have heard it being described as this ) in the heart of Boston created and curated by Jamilah Unique, Cauctease, with help from Cauc Camp, Art Plugs, and Freakz. This phenomenom comes in the form of a networking event/party that welcomes all types of local artists and business owners. I call them ARTREPRENEURS. Everything is an innovation and a creation and this city might fall apart emotionally, visually, and financially without art. Art Plug has proudly supported over 500 artist, 100+ directly. We have formed a family, classmates, friends, lovers within one another and as soon as you PLUG IN your life shifts. You look at life differently. As a family we need to support one another and provide the tools necessary to grow and regain all of the riches that have been taken/held from US.
With these funds I hope to establish Art Plug as a proper entertaiment agency so I can legally/properly assist artist and help them manage their workload/career as an artist. We hope to bring artist on the road, assist them in independant business ventures and their public images, ownership of the work they create. All of these things cost money. Art supplies, equipment, studio sessions, shows, merchanside, branding, living, eating, space to function, travel costs, deposits, investments and more. Hopefully Art Plug can go global/international with this suport from all of you.
