Support For Louie Shaw as he heads for Heart transplant in Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, Ca.
Louie has been dealing sucessfully with heart failure for 19+ years since an infection that damaged his heart. Since March of 2018 his condition has digressed to the point he could'nt return to work in the North Slope oil fields. He has always pursued life with vigor. His passion for famliy, friends hunting and fishing has been unbridled. His desire is to be able to continue to serve his family, friends and employer with the kind of zeal he always has. The path with a chance for that future has led him to Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles Ca. as donor receipiant of a heart transplant. He was air medivaced there on June 30th ,2018 because of his unstable condition. He is currently going thru evaluation by a huge team of medical staff for that possibility. This likely will mean a prolonged stay in Calif. for that pursuit. The mounting significant out of pocket expenses have already begun. Louie has been employed with Jacobs Engineering for some time now as an expert mechanic in the Noth Slope oil fields. He has a good insurance medical plan thru that employment and they have stepped up their support. The greater expenses of his need will beyond the medical aspect. Louie will need to remain in Califorina for extended periods of months both pre and post transpalnt. A place to live close to Cedars Sinai, transportation, meals and so on. Louie's life at home in Alaska will go on a pause however the financial obligations of it won't! He and Kimmie, (his wife) will need all the support we can muster to assist them to maintain some normalicy on the home front. Another great expense will obviously be some flights to & from LA for themselves and select family members to top it off. This all considered would be a massive burden on most anyone you know. Life is about Family, Friends & Community. This is what impacts us the most and where we spend most all of our time and energy. This is the motivation for this project. Partnering with Louie and Kim to meet these new needs in their lives. I have spoken with Louie about this Campaign and has given a humble nod, in favor. Louie has always been there for his freinds. I know that in fact as I have been a bennificiary of his good nature. I am sure many reading this can say the same. THE GOALS OF THIS GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN ARE:
1.Expenses in LA for living ect.
2. Maintain obligations at home
3. Assist family flying to LA as needed
4. Any out of pocket medicals if needed

My name is Joe Carpenter and I am a close personal friend of Louie and Kim. I live in Chugiak Alaska just a few blocks from Louie. We have known them for nearly 20+ years and have spent many good times together. I am a Registered Nurse working in Anchorage Alaska and have been following the medical end of Louie's illness. The account at Credit Union 1 will hold the funds untill Louie or Kim call for funds to be deposited into thier personal account at First National Bank Of Alaska to augment their stay in West Hollywood near Cedars Sinai Hospital before and after the transpalnt. Myself , Willy or Scott will transfer funds or pay bills directly to or for the Shaws as they let us know a need has come up. We hope to keep them debt free from all this advancing expense so they can concentrate on getting Louie to renewed health and back home to Alaska as soon as possible.
