We're an Edmonton-based non-profit organization raising funds for other non-profit organizations. It is our mission to give a voice to those who can’t speak for themselves. HEAL YEG is Helping Everyone Accept Love.
HEAL YEG was created as a way for John Milaković to provide a voice for his older brother, Matthew. Growing up, John watched as Matthew struggled to communicate with others because of his Down Syndrome. John decided that starting a charity would be a great way to give a voice to his brother and others like him, providing opportunities to those who need them.
John then reached out to HEAL YEG’s co-founder, Jori West, who, like John, wanted to help empower people like her brother Brenton who struggles with mental health issues.
From there, John and Jori approached the rest of the board members because of their skills and their drive to help others – and so, HEAL YEG was born.
Each year, HEAL YEG will be hosting a benefit concert and giving the funds raised to a different non-profit organization. This year, John has chosen Camp Health, Hope & Happiness Society for his charity of choice, as a tribute to his brother Matthew, who has attended the camp in the past.
