Healing Hands Woodshop Rebuild

$6,385 of $60,000 goal

Raised by 38 people in 32 months
Healing Hands Woodshop burned on June 21, 2016. We are raising money to help rebuild the shop.

The wood shop was part of a sheltered work program for youth and young adults where we built cedar strip canoes and re-purposed pallets into furniture and other creations. We partner with other youth service organizations to support marginalized and vulnerable young people and encourage them towards holistic life development.  We are rooted in our Christian faith but provide service to all portions of the population. We are located in an innercity neighbourhood in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The money raised here will go towards helping with site clean up, building a new facility to continue providing learning and relationship opportunities, and replacing lost tools, lumber, and other resources. While we do have some insurance coverage, the sooner we can raise funds the sooner we can get back to providing services and supports to individual youth and other organizations.

Approximately half of the programming we provide was done through the wood shop (the other half is done through the bike shop, which was damaged but not destroyed) so this is a significant loss to us and our community.  It would not only mean a lot to us, but to our community and the people we serve to have a good facility up and running again.

We are incredibly thankful for all the moral support and encouragement we have received so far and are very thankful for any donations that help us get back on our feet.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us thus far! We've raised $1500 towards the matching grant of $5000 :-D Any further donations are greatly appreciated! This will help us finish the bathroom and get our security system up and running.

Hey folks! We've had a donor commit to a matching grant of $5000 if we can raise $5000 :-) That would help us with a security system and outfitting the shop with some great tools. Thanks for your help!

Hey everyone thanks for the prayers and finacial support! We are in the process of the rebuild and have run into a bit of a snag. According to building codes our new building needs a washroom. This came as a bit of a surprise to us but is nobodies fault nor is it the city trying to be difficult. Everyone is trying very hard to make this work as best as possible. The biggest challenge is that it ups the cost of the building by something like $30,000 (rough guess) mostly because of where we need to trench to achieve sewer access. This is not covered by insurance since the original building did not have a washroom. Any extra assistance is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you so much to everyone who had donated and supported us!
The old building has been torn down and we have a bare cement pad left. We have settled with insurance and are able to start our rebuild :-) We will be building ourselves and there are sure to be expenses and unforeseen developments as we go so we appreciate any donations that come in. Thank you!
