Healing Kasey Lynn

Donation protected
Meet Kasey Lynn! She is five. She has a big brother, Elan and two amazing parents, Brook and Monica. They are “The Belgums”!! Kasey loves spending time with all of her family, being in nature with her brother and cousins, playing dolls, dress-up, playing memory, jumping on the trampoline, and having sleepovers with her best friends. She goes to pre-school three days a week and loves her teachers and her friends! Up until 7 weeks ago, she lived a pretty typical, happy, five-year old life. After a few weeks of experiencing some different symptoms, her mom, Monica, knew something wasn’t right and asked their doctor for a CT scan. Please read their story and share far and wide to help HEAL KASEY!

On April 4th, 2019, Brook and Monica received news no parent should have to hear. Their five year old daughter, Kasey Lynn, was diagnosed with a mass on her brain stem. On April 9th, 2019, she underwent a successful open brain surgery to biopsy the mass. Their team at UCLA feels that it is a malignant tumor and they are awaiting biopsy results to determine the exact kind of brain stem cancer and course of treatment. This has been a time of grief, devastation, and uncertainty for Monica, Brook, Elan, and Kasey and their entire family. In the face of it all, it has also been a time of HOPE, COURAGE, UNITY AND SUPPORT. Brook, Monica, Elan and little Kasey Lynn have been wrapped in the arms of all who love them and even complete strangers and for that they are so grateful. They feel the love and support around them and it has carried them through the uncertainty of these past few weeks. Kasey has been so strong and has shown them she is a fighter and that she will beat this, no matter what it is!

Moving forward, they have a long road ahead of them to heal their sweet girl.  After two weeks in the hospital and a major brain surgery, they are home now, establishing their new “norm”, and preparing the best they can for what’s to come.  While her exact course of treatment with her UCLA team is still unknown, Brook and Monica have started their healing journey with Kasey by offering her the love and care of both of her parents, quality time with her family and best friend and strong nutritional support. Ultimately, what this means is both Monica and Brook are taking time off of work indefinitely to focus 100% of their energy on healing Kasey, supporting Elan and each other. Her treatments will be comprehensive, time consuming and costly. They will not only include treatments, travel and time away from home down at UCLA, but also, integrative treatments which may also require some travel, purchasing equipment to use at home, organic food, herbs and supplements and appointments with healers not covered by insurance. Brook and Monica are leaving no stone un-turned to heal their Kasey Lynn.

With the continued support from each other, their family, friends and community, they will get through this, one day at a time. Thank you to those who have already generously offered well wishes, positive energy, love, light, prayers and monetary support. The Belgum’s are a family of givers, who serve their community and are there for anyone in a time of need. Thank you for reading their story and for any continued support you can offer by sending well wishes, donating and sharing.  With an abundance of gratitude and on behalf of the Belgum’s, we thank you with all of our hearts.
