Healing Henry

Donation protected

Hello,
My name is Jennifer Desrochers.
My partner Joel Rochon and I were given one of the best gifts anyone could be given, a baby boy. Henry was born on 10/27/2016 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.

At a routine ultrasound at 35 weeks pregnant, Henry was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) called Aortic Valve Stenosis.  Along with this, the Drs also found Henry to have an underdeveloped mitral valve which caused his left atrium to become enlarged. This form of CHD is extremely rare and will require multiple procedures within the 1st week of his life. This diagnosis came as a complete surprise to us.  Up until this point everything was going smooth and we were scheduled to deliver a healthy baby boy.
Henry was delivered via C-section on 10/27.  Within minutes of being born, a breathing tube was inserted and he was whisked off to Boston Children's Hospital for his 1st procedure, a Balloon Valvuloplasty. During this procedure the Dr guides a catheter through the blood vessel located near the groin to his heart and then into the narrowed aortic valve.  Once inside the valve, a balloon is fed through the catheter and inflated in order to open the diameter of the valve.  At the same time, the surgeons were also creating a hole in the chamber wall between the left and right atrium to relieve the excess blood in the enlarged left atrium. This first procedure was needed to stabilize him- without this he would go into cardiac arrest. This procedure was a huge success! Henry exceeded expectations...but he is far from out of the woods.
Henry now needs to undergo multiple open heart surgeries to address the other issues with his heart. He will need to have a 3-part surgical procedure called the Norwood Procedure...the 1st part of the procedure is scheduled on 11/3. This will require 4-6 weeks in the hospital for recovery. If all goes as planned we will then finally take Henry home for a while. The 2nd part of the surgery will take place between 6 and 9 months old and the 3rd part will be around 2 years old.
Henry has a long, tough battle ahead of him and Joel and I will be there every step of the way.

What we are asking for is funding for medical bills and living expenses during this extremely hard time.
Henry has a big brother Benjamin as a big sister Harper at home. Luckily we have an amazing family that has been helping us with them back in North Smithfield. Unfortunately they cannot stay with us while we are in Boston for Henry. In addition the necessary medical costs and the cost to relocate to Boston, we still have our financial responsibilities in North Smithfield,  Due to the severity of Henry's condition we will be out of work for an undetermined period of time.

Joel and I have had many family members and friends offer to help, but they do not know how. This page is being set up for those amazing people who would like to help in some way. We will need all the help we can get financially to get through this situation and anything that is given will be greatly appreciated...More than words could describe.
All excess funds raised will be donated to CHD research at Boston Children's Hospital.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
