Healing for Harper

Hello friends and family, as many of you know, our family loves our furry companions. We have always kept the dogs and other pets we’ve owned central to our daily well being and lives. About a year ago our family was graced with the beautiful and endearing soul we call Harper. If you have a dog, you know how much just the sight of your dog can lift the stress from your chest after a long day. Full of personality and spunk, our one year old great dane has not always led the most controlled or poised presence when prancing around our property. Late last night, she was let out to go about her business. When she decided to come back inside, she attempted to clear our steps which resulted in her front leg getting stuck in between the steps while her momentum carried her body forward. The suffering I heard was unimagineable and a noise that will continuously echo in my brain for years to come. Fracturing both her radius and ulna, she will have to undergo surgery. I think I speak for my entire family when I say we are a family of hard working, passionate people and we rarely ask for help in these situations. However, seeing as we do not have pet insurance, Harper’s surgery is at a whopping $4,500 and has completely blindsided us in terms of unexpectedness. Placing her in a cast for 10-12 weeks is simply not a safe alternative if she is to heal correctly. Therefore, we must go through with the surgery, and we must pay this fee out of pocket. Money is always very tight for my family but any amount you are willing or able to donate will be greatly appreciated. Please keep Harper in your thoughts.
