Healing Alison's Brain Injury

Our beloved Alison, while on a prayer walk, suffered a traumatic brain injury when she was struck from behind by a bicyclist. The collision left Alison with no recollection of what had actually happened and it took quite a while for her, her family and close community members to realize how serious her injury was.
In the months immediately after her injury, Alison's healing focused on the physical pain in her neck, back, and other parts of her body. It took an additional year for her doctors to recognize and understand the seriousness of her brain injury. Her family has spent thousands of dollars on treatments for the injuries to her body and head over the last year and a half, and she has lost many hours from her practice as well.

Fortunately, Alison's family and friends discovered Cognitive FX (cognitivefxusa.com), a unique brain injury clinic in Provo, Utah with a proven track record for reversing the effects of traumatic head injuries. Our fundraising goal includes the $8,000 cost of the week-long clinic, $240 round-trip airfare, $985 for lodging at the nearby and clinic-recommended Marriott Hotel (which partners with Cognitive FX), and $275 for meals while she is undergoing treatment. GoFundMe will deposit all donations directly into Alison's checking account, which she will access to expend the funds on the expense items described above.
Alison has scheduled her treatment for the week of August 12-18, so our goal is to raise this amount by that time. We know of several people who have healed significantly from their traumatic brain injury at Cognitive FX. To a person, this treatment has made a tremendous difference in their lives.
Over the decades Alison has selflessly given of herself to many, many people. She is a beloved member of her Mohawk family, the Indigenous Grandmother prayer group, Idle No More SF Bay , and the Native American community in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is also a gifted professional therapist who helps children and adults heal from trauma. As practitioner she has literally helped hundreds of children and families through her private practice and in workshops throughout the United States.
This is a wonderful time to give a little something back to Alison for all that she's done for so many people in so many ways. And we know that she will use the healing she receives from this treatment to continue the love and support that she gives to her communities. That's just who she is, and so we hope you will join us.
