St. Pius X Playground

St. Pius X is an elementary Catholic School located in Mid-Missouri. Our current playground surface is beginning to detoriate.  The surface has become uneven rocky and dilapidated.  The playground slopes towards our school building and water is pooling at the foundation. Our plan is to not only make this space a place for phyical activity but an outdoor classroom as well.  We would like to remove all of the current asphalt and fencing. We will be replacing all gravel with tire chips, adding two new pieces of equipment along with grass for outdoor classroom areas.

A special addition to this project is The Deacon Dave Ritter Memorial Garden.  This will be used in a way to continue his legacy and love for gardening.  Our students will utilize this as an outdoor classroom during our science classes and it will also provide produce for our 140 plus students.  The children will not only learn first hand the farm to table concept, they will also gain hands on knowledge of plant science. 

The project will begin in May 2016 to be completed before school begins in August of 2016.
The St. Pius X community is growing. As this happens updates to our facilities are needed.  

All future generations will be thankful for the saftey improvments and overall upgrade to the outdoor physical activity space.
