First off, I would like to thank you for taking time out of your day to visit this page.

In March of this year, I began to develop double vision. At first it was a nuisance, something that I could handle. My eyes would adjust after quite some time staring at things and trying to focus. As the weeks passed, my vision grew steadily worse until I broke down and bought an eye patch to help with seeing two of everything. As added bonuses, my right eye is turned entirely inward now, and I have headaches of varying intensity all the time.

I saw an ophthalmologist who told me I needed to have an MRI done on my brain. I had the MRI. The scan showed a spot on my brain, and then I was referred to a neurologist. The neurologist threw half a dozen tests at me, including more MRIs on my neck and spine and very expensive blood work in order to rule out a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.

On the plus side, the MRI results came back normal, but I still have more blood tests to do. One of the tests, called a JCV, is more than $1,500 alone. I also need to have a lumbar puncture (spinal tap m/) to test the fluid in my spine for antibodies to determine whether or not I have a demyelinating disease. This means my body is attacking the coating on my nerves, known as a myelin sheath, in my brain. A demyelinating issue is in the same family as multiple sclerosis, though it is not as severe as MS. But it’s still annoying as all get out.

Right now I don’t have any confirmed diagnoses for what the exact problem is since I still need more tests done, which, frankly, I cannot afford. Since March I have used up nearly all the small savings that my husband and I kept on things such as new glasses and now many, many doctor bills. I have tried numerous times to get on Medicaid for an existing condition, and Obamacare is completely unaffordable. I’ve just finished graduate school, I’m in the process of looking for work, and my student loans are due. There is never any good time to get sick, but during this transitional period, everything has hit my husband and me pretty hard.

So I need financial help and must resort to e-begging. If you can spare a few dollars or share this GoFundMe, I would be entirely grateful. Again, thank you for your time.
