Hawaii Recovery Fund for The Kysers

$22,925 of $25,000 goal

The Big Island of Hawaii's earthquakes and lava flows last week began at Leilani Estates, two houses away from the home of our beloved Hawaii family Mike and Dottie Kyser, and continue to spread and create destruction.   Dottie and Mike are now homeless.

No insurance company has their back.  When they were at last able to pay off their mortgage last year, home insurance was unavailable to them due to their neighborhood's proximity to the Pahoa lava flow of 2014...yes, the one that began just days after our Hawaiian wedding celebration that Mike and Dottie made for us.

If you ever visited Puna or if you attended our wedding celebration there, chances are strong that you met the Kysers.  Dottie and Mike live their lives with strong hearts and open arms to anyone in need, and we treasure their fine, generous spirits.

At this moment they themselves need help:  they are starting from scratch again.  We hope you will join us in supporting their efforts to build a new home for themselves and their family on their home island.

100% of the funds are going directly to Dottie and Mike Kyser. Dottie and Tim have a joint account at Bank of Hawaii and a direct deposit has been set up.

We are reimbursing the GoFundMe fees collected to the Kysers. And we are covering the taxes so that every dime donated goes directly to them.

Every contribution will be greatly appreciated.

Mahalo Nui Loa for your Kokua...

It has been difficult to end this fundraiser for Dottie and Mike Kyser. There is still so much ongoing destruction and great loss on so many fronts in Puna and on the Big Island. Every time we decide to close it down, someone else donates or shares the link to their friends. We know that we will not seek to go past the $25,000 goal... and we are so very close.

Thanks to each of you who have given from the heart and who have help spread the word. Please continue to share this with others who may like to also donate. Please give if you haven’t had the opportunity to do so.

There are also other lava relief fundraising groups out their on GoFundMe and other crowdfunding sites. Here are just a few...

ALOHA! Scott and I are counting down the last hours (26 hours to be exact) of this fundraiser for Dottie and Mike Kyser. We are very close to making this goal for the Kyser Ohana. Remember, every dollar donated goes to them. The percentage that GoFundMe takes is will be reimbursed to the total collected. So when you see the reached goal of $25,000... the Kysers will receive every cent of that. AND we are almost there!
I'm humbled by the donations, the kind words, and the effort put into spreading the word about these folks in need. I am deeply touched by those of our Ohana who gave with so much Aloha as they suffered losses of their own and continue to face an uncertain future in Puna But most of all, I am overjoyed how your efforts are already making a difference for Dottie and Mike. Yes, they are grieving their loss... but they are also very optimistic about the possibilities as they begin to rebuild their lives. IMUA... moving forward... is what the Kysers are doing thanks in part to YOU!
PLEASE give if you can and keep spreading the word about this campaign! We love and appreciate YOU... our Ohana! xoxoTim (&Scott)

Thank you for helping my ohana in this very uncertain and difficult time. We are only keeping this fundraiser open until Monday, June 11th. Huge heartfelt gratitude for all who have taken part... either by donation, sharing the link, or both! You are making a difference to these amazing folks who have always given freely their time and resources to help others. They do so with so much aloha, without expectations and often putting aside their own personal needs to help another. They are people strong in faith and determination. They will rebuild somehow. Thank you so much for opening your heart to help my ohana. Every little bit matters. I love you! xoxoT

ALOHA everyone. Dottie and Mike were informed late Sunday evening that the lava has completely destroyed their home and land in Leilani Estates. At the beginning of this catastrophic event, lava flows had completely cut off access to their home. The area was too unstable and the air was too toxic to allow the Kysers to check on their property and remove any belongings as some other residents of Leilani had been allowed to do. They knew early on that they would need to rebuild and settle someplace new and safe. But they hoped that one day... many months or years from now... they would be able to return and reclaim some of what was lost. The massive resurgence of lava in Leilani over the last few days has taken that hope away from the Kysers and many others with homes in the area.
NOW... more than ever... Dottie and Mike need our ALOHA and SUPPORT.
BIG MAHALO to everyone who has donated so far... and to those who are planning to! Please do what you can to spread the word and share this relief campaign with your OHANA!
We thank you and send our ALOHA! xoTim&Scott
