Harare SPCA burgled

Donation protected
It is with great sadness that we share this update. On the night of Friday the 8th of June, the Harare SPCA  Vet Hospital was broken into. Our CCTV was quickly and efficiently disabled. The thieves damaged and broke several internal and external doors as well as damaging our safe beyond repair. They got away with all of our US Dollars which, considering the financial problems in Zimbabwe, we are using to buy vaccinations and drugs from outside the country due to the high cost of sourcing them locally. They also got away with 3 laptops, 2 cell phones, 2 cash boxes and all of the contents of the safe.

This is a debilitating blow for the Harare SPCA and we are desperate to replace everything as soon as possible and get back to running at 100%.

We have had to get repairs to and additional burglar bars and security measures installed which we have had to pay towards already. This cost reduces the amount of money we can spend on replacing what we use on pro bono or subsidized treatments. As the Harare SPCA is currently running with a monthly deficit of around $7000 already, the costs incurred from this burglary have put us in dire circumstances.

We are glad to report that all the animals on the property were left completely alone and are all safe.

We are appealing to animal lovers around the world for any support possible to help us recover from this devastating incident that is jeopardizing our capacity to deliver much needed services for animals in need and lower-income households who could otherwise not afford the services.

This is an official fundraising campaign by the Harare SPCA, managed through the account of a supporter of the organization. All proceeds will be disbursed in their entirety to the Harare SPCA. To reach out to the Harare SPCA directly, contact [email redacted].zw
