Tiffani #happilyeverFaster in Rio!

#happilyeverFaster
My name is Tiffani McReynolds. I am 5’0” tall, 95 lbs. (on a good day) and training professionally to run the 100m high hurdles in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Despite my height and size, competing in an event where the ideal competitor is 5’7” - 5’8” and 144 lbs, my physical limitations have never stopped me. While in college I earned 5 NCAA D1 All-American titles and a became a 7-time Big 12 Champion in the 60mH and 100mH. I have qualified for the USA Championships for the past 5 years and this year placed 3rd in the USA Indoor Championships. I have dreamed of competing at the Olympics in those beautiful red, white and blue uniforms since the age of 10, and this year is my year to run #happilyeverFaster in Rio.

In 2012 I thought that my childhood dream might come to a reality.

In 2012, as a sophomore at Baylor University, I qualified early in my outdoor season for the USA Olympic Trials. Towards the middle of that same season, just a month and a half before the trials I tore 80% of my left quad muscle.

I was devastated but not defeated. I spent the next month and a half going through rigorous rehab and minimal practice. I gained enough health to travel to Eugene that year and compete with some of the best hurdlers in the nation including, Lolo Jones, Dawn Harper, and Kellie Wells. Unfortunately, because of my injury and the time it took to recover, I was only able to compete at about 75%, in a meet where 100% is necessary.
From that moment on I have been dedicated to seeing my dream come true, not just for myself but to inspire and encourage others. The three seasons following 2012 have not been easy. I have encountered several more injuries, a stress fracture in my left tibia and in May of this year a tore hip tendon which ended my final collegiate season prematurely.

Adversity is something that I have learned not to be afraid of, tenacity is my new middle name and faith is my source of strength. I am more determined than ever to compete at the Olympics and accomplish my goal of running #happilyeverFaster. I have ran some of my fastest times post injury (100mH: 12.59 *wind aided*, 12.77 wind legal, 60mH: 7.93)
By making it to the USA Olympic Trials and ultimately the Rio Olympics, I pray that my story serves as a source of encouragement, illustrating that no matter your physical limitations or the battles you may fight, God is able and faith and perseverance are rewarded, off and on the track.

Your donations will go towards the expenses of training fees, travel recovery/rehab, supplements, nutrition, rent and bills. I will be working part-time but to reach this goal training full-time is necessary. I currently live in Waco but will soon be moving to Dallas to will to train with an group of elite hurdlers under the coaching of Sammy Dabbs. I am confident that with this training and staying healthy this dream is within reach.

Thank you for sowing into my dream and helping me embark on this journey.
