Hannah's Wings

My name is Caroline, and on February 9th, 2018, I found out my mum, Hannah, was brutally murdered in her flat in London. She was only 55.

Media and press reported my mum’s murder before I even knew about it. At 9.28pm that evening on the first day of a holiday with my four children, my phone rang: it was a police officer, who told me over the phone that my mum had been found died in her own flat & it was being dealt with as a murder.

If my name sounds familiar to you, then you might have read my story in the newspaper or seen my campaign featured on ITV news. I was not offered even the chance to see mum a final time.

The lengths my family has had to endure to pick up the pieces of our lives after mums death have been nearly unbearable - I want no other family to have to suffer as we have. For that reason, I come to you for help.

I intend to set up a memorial fund in honour of Mum and call it “Hannah’s Wings”. Our goal will be to offer support for murder victim families and protect from financial pain in the wake of their loved ones' passing. I understand first hand what financial difficulties can arise, and if I can prevent even one family from experiencing the additional pressure and pain that I have, then I will feel some comfort in light of all that has transpired. I want the fund to offer a comforting hand of help where there is such a lack of it for a unexpected tragedy.

We have created a GoFundMe page that will enable us to start Hannah’s Wings ASAP!

Government support is massively lacking in all areas for victims of murder, There is a compensation system put in place by the government; however, this can take around a year to two years to come through. None of those funds are available when you need them most.
