The Nomination:
My name is Hannah Robson and I was nominated by my science teacher, Mrs. Medlin, to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Explore STEM. I attend Arborbrook Christian Academy and am a rising 9th grader. This program will focus on the STEM fields, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The NYLF: Explore STEM program is held annually in the summer at ten college campuses and I will be attending at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC from July 7- July 12.
Program Summary:
The theme of the entire program is called ‘Mission to Mars’. In this week long program, I will be focusing on the innovative and competitive fields of medicine, technology, and engineering. There are interactive simulations and hands-on projects as well as computer coding and forensic science. During the study of engineering and robotics, there will be a keynote speaker who is a former NASA astronaut!
My goal for my time there is to deeply explore science and technology career opportunities and increase my confidence.
Funding/Fundraising:
I am hoping to raise funds to help cover the cost to attend this program. Tuition for NYLF is: $2,295, which includes overnight housing, meals, transportation during the program, all program activities and materials, curriculum and instruction. I will also be working small jobs this summer to help pay toward the cost. Any amount that is contributed is greatly appreciated! The time we would need the funds by is July 7, 2018.
This is a remarkable opportunity that does not come along every day, and I feel very grateful to be selected. I hope you will consider making a donation and helping to support me.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and thank you for all your prayers and support in all I do!
