Hanley Middle 8th Grade DC Trip!
Some of my students have never seen the Mississippi River, and they live less than 10 miles from it. Many of my students have never left the city of Memphis, let alone the state of Tennessee. Giving my students the chance to visit a new place, at all, but especially the capital of the United States, will be an invaluable experience.
My students will see the White House, Howard and Georgetown University, the Monuments, the African American History Museum, and more. They will have the opportunity to see places they are learning about in their Humanities course in real life. They will learn the history of the United States, meet new people, visit a large city, try new foods, and travel with their friends.
This trip will broaden my students perspectives, give them a memorable experience before going off to high school, and make them more cultured, global citizens.
We have been working hard and will continue to work hard all school year to fundraise: washing cars, selling items, raking leaves, hosting restaurant nights, and getting out into the community.
This will be the trip of a lifetime for my students, and any help you can give would be incredible.
