Hammy’s recovery

Donation protected
Last night, Hammy’s curiosity and appetite got the best of her—she dug some Advil and Aleve out of a nearby backpack and ingested a few pills. NSAIDs are highly toxic to dogs and Ham has since been hospitalized. I caught it within a couple hours of it taking place, so Hammy does have a shot of pulling through. Her amazing vets are doing all they can to flush her system and monitor her over the next three days, as dogs poisoned with NSAIDs often experience stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal failure, and kidney failure. She has to be hospitalized for at least three days because NSAIDs release slowly in dogs. We are not out of the woods yet, but so far Hammy seems fairly bright, alert, and brave. She’s my little fighter. And the whole emergency vet staff is already in love with her.

Hammy is a special dog who spreads joy to everyone she comes across. I got her in October and already don’t remember life without her. Many of you have requested I start a GoFundMe page for this, since her hospital stay will cost between $3k and $5k in total. If you are looking for a way to help Ham, every little bit helps. Visits, pets, and good vibes are just as appreciated. ❤️ Thank you all for loving Ham so ferociously. It means so much.
