Hallman Traumatic Brain Injury Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Please help Jeff and Janine Hallman with the expenses incurred from hospital bills. On Thursday, January 17th, 2019, Jeff was outside on a ladder when he fell. He hit his head and was knocked unconscious. A person walking by saw Jeff lying on the ground in a large pool of blood and called 911. Jeff was taken to Lancaster General Hospital’s Neuro Trauma Unit. He has severe swelling of the brain and the doctors removed part of his skull to alleviate the pressure. On top of the severe brain trauma, he has a broken back (in two places), a broken pelvis (also in two places), skull fractures, internal bleeding and a collapsed lung. He may have other broken bones but the doctors are mainly concentrating on the brain trauma. This is Jeff’s second head injury having had an accident when he was only 16 years old. Now, at 58, the healing will be a lot harder.

Janine works with children who have autism and is working towards a Master’s degree in Special Education and being a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  She should graduate in June but has to put her schooling on hold in order to take care of Jeff and be his advocate while he is recovering. Janine also volunteers at Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center.

Jeff enjoys remodeling homes, boating, fishing and discussing politics. He is also a member of Our Mother Perpetual Help Church and Cushion Peak Gun Club.

Jeff’s road to recovery will be long and strenuous. We anticipate that after leaving the hospital in a few months, he will continue to receive Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy as well as Speech Therapy.  Your donations will help to off set these and other costs involved in taking care of Jeff.

We would like to take a moment out to say a special ‘Thank You’ to Manheim Township Police and Ambulance crews who responded to the 911 call, as well as to the strangers who found Jeff, covered him with a blanket and called for help. We also want to thank the nurses and doctors at LGH Neuro Trauma Unit. We greatly appreciate your quick response and help! May God bless you all!!
