Crossing the Haitian Bridge

As a first generation Haitian-American for many years it has been more than a dream to serve my people.  Since I walk and live in their resiliency and eagerness to transform their destiny, I am proud of my heritage . I embrace the lessons and stories of my culture.  My Haitian brothers and sisters live in deep economic poverty despite their hard work and determination.  Haitians are resourceful and warm.  The power of proximity to the values and traditions of the Haitian culture will propel the capability of serving.  In preparation to fulfill my dream I have taken the step of attending an International Peace & Conflict Resolution Graduate Program at Arcadia University.  Throughout the course of my studies, in order to deepen my learning capacity and to embrace the lessons that can be learned from other cultures, different conflicts and measures of sustainable development I have taken applicable courses and visited Northern Ireland and Sierra Leone.  This summer  I will be living in Haiti for two months to experience the culture first hand, provide service and in turn learn about the culture and needs of fellow Haitians. These funds will help me to walk the Haitian Bridge that for me is a life time mission.

The proceeds of  $10,000 will help offset the cost of my service trip and provide programming funds to the following local organizations that I will be collaborating with as part of my course studies: Na Sonje, FONDWA and Ecumenical Foundation for Peace and Justice.
