Hair Cut for Mental Health Charity "Mind"

The hair cut will be happening on Friday 17th of May, part of Mental Health Week. 

I'm having my hair cut to support Mental Health Week in May, the theme is Body image and for me (any many people I know) Hair styles are one of the ways that people do this. 

Mental Health affects so many people of every age to a lesser or greater degree, but many people don't know where to turn or even if it's okay to talk about it. Something as simple as a stressful day at work to the extream of depression and nervous breakdowns. 

2 years ago both me and my sister suffered a nervous brake down to different degrees, each of us reacted differently but we have always talked about things. I changed my job as part of my recovery but the affects can linger for years after, random panic attacks, low days with no reason, and a combat with hopelessness. Talking about these things is really important because you feel so alone when these times hit, but the truth is, you're not.  
Likewise supporting someone going through those times is hard. I've seen both my parents go through different times, from depression and not being able to leave the house, to hormonal changes and feeling of going mad.

This is one small thing I can do, but it's part of many events i'm working on with colleagues at work to help raise awareness of this issue and support Carrick in what they do for our area.
