These vulnerable kids - homeless children, children with special needs, children with teen parents - all need a safe and welcoming place to play without high costs, without judgement, and without fear.

Habitot's inspiring play-based exhibits and programs feature a Rocketship to blast off in, an Art Studio with unlimited art supplies, a Wiggle Wall to crawl through, a Wind Tunnel to throw fake leaves in, an Infant Toddler Garden to bounce around in, a Face Painting Studio, and a Pretend Cafe and Grocery Store to play in.
But what happens afterhours is so heartwarming. Homeless children receive birthday parties at Habitot with presents, cake, invitations, and transporation all covered by donors like you.
Children with special needs come with their parents to connect, play and have the museum all to themselves.

This is how we will use your gift in 2017:
• We’ll give a very special birthday party to dozens of homeless children living in one of our local family shelters - an exclusive museum experience for their friends and family with a birthday cake, a hand-selected present, special art activities, pizza, and party favors. The kids love their special day, of course, but it’s the parents who have tears of gratitude for this opportunity.
• We’ll welcome hundreds of Head Start preschoolers from all over the East Bay on free field trips - plus a we’ll give each child a $40 Family Guest Pass to return with their parents. Hundreds of children benefited from this educationally enriching program over the last 12 months.
• For children growing up in foster homes, we’ll host free community days of play and family bonding four times a year. With our extensive community connections, we’ll be able to include children who have been reunited with their parents and who need ongoing positive play experiences to heal the family and reinforce good parenting. This high impact program welcomed over 180 individuals in the last year.
• And for children with special needs - many of whom rarely get to frequent public parks or playgrounds - we’ll open our doors for truly inspirational community gatherings for children of all abilities and their families.
These families meet and support each other, and for some children, it's the first time they have ever played with another child. Over 550 children with special needs and families participated in these free, inclusive events last year.
For tens of thousands of East Bay kids under 5, your gift will support the ongoing services of an unparalleled imaginative play and learning space that builds better brains in the early years when it really counts!
