HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INDIA BUILD

Donation protected
Our Mission:
We are a group of 10 volunteers supporting ‘Habitat for Humanity’ to build sustainable housing for impoverished communities in India.
Our ambition is to raise £25,000 in order to send the10 volunteers to Karjat near Mumbai and help desperately under-privileged people build safe and secure shelter for their families. We need to raise this money by start of October 2018.

Our Chosen Charity:
‘Habitat for Humanity is an organisation founded in 1976. They have built more than 1 million homes and served over 10 million people in 70 countries across the globe.‘
Habitat for Humanity believe that a family home is the cornerstone of hope for those living in poverty. They help the poorest and most vulnerable people lift themselves out of poverty by partnering with them to build new homes for their communities. With a home comes protection from the elements, from disease and from violence. A decent and secure home provides the foundation for health, education and employment and as a leading international non-governmental organisation focused on shelter ‘Habitat for Humanity’ have helped millions of people realise that dream.

Why we want to Get Involved:
Worldwide, nearly 2 billion people are living in inadequate housing and some 830 million people live in urban slums. 50% of the world’s population now live in urban areas and by 2020 it is estimated the number of people living in urban slums will reach almost 1 billion.
Over the past few years we have supported a number of charities in the UK which we have done so with the help of our company and  donations and our teams volunteering efforts which included a Three Peak Challenge, ‘ The Long Way Up’ Bike ride challenge – 480 miles cycled from Liverpool to Dundee (which raised more than £18K ) plus various local events held in our contact centres.
As many of our colleagues work in teams in India, we wanted to give back to communities not just in the UK but in communities in India as well.

We have been very fortunate in the past with donations and we are humbly looking for your help and support once again from our family, friends and colleagues  for this very worthwhile cause

How we intend to use the money raised:
We have set ourselves the target to raise £25,000.
The cost for the build is £ 1,650 per person. This includes, the placement cost of £1,150 which covers meals, accommodation costs, transfers when in Mumbai and a donation of £500.. This is the minimum donation we hope to be able to give.
The remaining £6,850 will be used for flights, vaccinations and VISA's for the 11 volunteers. We hope to keep all costs down to a minimum so that anything left over will be donated direct to Habitat for Humanity along with the build costs of £18,150.
A payment of £15,400 is due to be paid to Habitat for Humanity on the 10th October via direct bank transfer from Shirley Stewart's account. We have already paid £2750 in registration fees. Once the £15,400 is paid, we will have secured all 11 places for the build completing our commitment of £18,150. The team will continue to fund raise between now and the end of November. Once the  flight and VISA costs have been paid, the remaining balance will be sent to Habitat for Humanity by bank transfer.

Please help us in achieving our goal to support and fund the charity’s ambition of long-term poverty alleviation.
