Quinte Search and Rescue

Donation protected
Quinte Search and Rescue (QSAR) is a not for profit organization with 21 active members. Each member volunteers their time and efforts to keep the Bay of Quinte a safer place for recreational and leisure boating.

From the time we received the Sutcliffe (Rescue Boat) from MetalCraft Marine in July 2011 to date, we have responded to over 88 Search and Rescue Missions, Stood Down 5 times, On water Training Exercises 92, Assisted 111 people, Saved 21 and helped save or recover over 3 million dollars in property, at no cost to the community or government.

QSAR members respond to on water emergency calls 24/7 that are dispatched through JRCC (Joint Rescue Coordination Center/Trenton Military Air Base). During the event of an on water emergency,  members receive a pager like notification on their cell phones giving them the details of the emergency. Members stop whatever they're doing and head to the emergency dock. Members then deploy  a rescue vessel and  arrive at the scene in a safe and timely manner. Members are able to assist in many different emergencies.

Members of the QSAR team are highly skilled individuals that consist of Police Officers, Firefighters, Paramedics, and other valued members of the community. Each member volunteers their skills and time to ensure the safety of our community on the water.

In 2015, QSAR responded to many different emergencies ranging from sinking vessels, mechanical failures and assisted Police in the search for missing persons. The organization was able to save over 1 million dollars in propertyin 2015 alone. This resource is vital to anyone on the water or people with family or friends on the water.

QSAR operates without municipal, provincial or federal funding. Our main source of income has come to an end due to the closure of a local Bingo Hall that hosted regular charity events.

Our motors on the rescue boat are tired and too costly to maintain.  A replacement set is required for the upcoming season that begins in April 2016 as soon as the ice melts and people start using the Bay.

The money raised will allow the QSAR organization to  purchase two new 200 horse motors for the primary rescue vessel (Bruce A. Suttcliffe) that are desperately needed. I can assure you that our team will be on the water and ready to assist any emergency for many years to come with your help. We are totally grateful for your donations.

Regards,

Call *16 if you're on the water and require emergency assistance. QSAR will be there!

I recently created my Facebook Account so I don't have many friends on my list yet so if you can share this message, it would be appreciated just as much as a donation, by myself and so many others.
Thanks,
