Cathy's battle to live !

$3,073 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 74 people in 10 months
My daughter Cathy is a wonderful woman who loves her family more than anything,  She had wanted children for a long time and infertility became a part of her life.  After  failed treatments and surgeries, she was blessed with two miracles  at the ages of 38 and 41. She lives for her boys and has dedicated herself to homeschooling them and making sure they have a personal relationship with God.  Her goal in life is to see her boys grow into responsible and loving young men,  A few years ago, she began a period where she was constantly sick.  It got to the point that doctors themselves were at a loss as to what all the symptoms were coming from.  Nothing showed on blood work so  her doctors decided to treat her for anxiety, When all else fails and doctors have no answers  it surely must be anxiety.   Nothing worked yet she continued to get worse.  A little over  a year ago, she found a doctor who tested her for Lyme disease and it was positive, Along with Lyme she also has co infections such as Babesia, which in itself  can be as devastating and debilitating  as Lyme  disease, Because the Lyme went undiagnosed for so long, standard treatment with antibiotics was no long an option. Her Lyme disease has become  neurological and has affected her brain and central nervous system. Due to the neurological damage, she now has POTS.  I would suggest you google that.  She spent over a year almost bedridden and has only in recent months been able to function somewhat,  A few weeks ago, she discovered an abnormality in one of her breasts  and although it wasn't quite time for her mammogram she saw her doctor.  After a mammogram, two ultrasounds, an MRI and a biopsy, she was told she has breast cancer.  At this point all we know is that it's a large mass but won't know more until she sees an oncologist.  I am angry because she has tried so hard to find answers to her other illnesses and how is it even possible for a breast cancer to grow so large without being detected sooner? How much more can one person take?  Her boys need their mom,.  I am not usually one to ask for money but this is my daughter and it's not the time to be too proud to reach out to others for help, If you find it in your heart and are able to help financially we would be forever grateful, but if that isn't possible then we covet your continued prayers as we travel this unknown journey,

Our latest visit was a good one. Scans showed improvement in bone Mets and the tumor in the breast wasn’t visible. We are thanking God for this. Treatment is working for now. As happy as we are about this report, Cathy is still very sick from Lyme and the complications that has caused. This is a post she made to Facebook last week.

My heart is sad this morning:( I sit here with tears rolling down my face as I see all of the families dressed up for Easter & going to church together. I have been crying for a solid hour. I would have given anything to be able to go this morning. I tried so hard to sleep so that we could go...but my stupid body kept me awake all night. That, and the fact that my POTS and Neurocardiogenic Syncope have been really bad and I have had a hard time standing up for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Anybody that knows me well, knows how much I love the Lord and how much I LOVE and MISS church. We have not gone in a LONG time due to my health. This has been one of the hardest things about all of this. My heart longs for being a part of a church family...worshipping together, etc.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not ever take your health for granted. You may just wake up one day and it will all be gone:(

Please pray that my health improves so that we can start going to church again.

Please keep Cathy in your prayers and pass along our campaign page. Thank you

It has been awhile. With Christmas coming just after our last trip to CTCA it has been a busy time. So sorry for the long delay in updating. We have had sickness in the family as well. Cathy’s first scans after three months on treatment were good. The cancer is stable. She also got word that CTCA took a lot off that $18,000 bill. What a praise! We have started a new year, therefore the deductibles begin again along with monthly costs of medications and a ton of supplements they have her take. Anyone who buys supplements knows the cost can run high. We go to CTCA for the second set of scans on March 6. Hard to believe we have been in this battle over six months now. Please remember Cathy and pray that these scans show much improvement. Her Lyme and POTS have worsened over the past couple of months and she has spent much of the time in her recliner unable to do much. I come to Tennessee as often as possible to lend support and be as helpful as I can be. Sometimes, as a mother, I wonder why my child must go through so much. Wouldn’t you think just one of these health issues would be enough ? I have to pray and remind myself that God has a plan...but it’s hard sometimes to accept that. I am so glad that He doesn’t forget us in those dark times ! We keep looking up expecting our miracle! Our campaign is still open for anyone who might feel led to donate again. Please share this with people you know You have all helped so much and we appreciate it more than you know. Be part of our miracle...Keep praying

Cathy has started round three of treatment and so far she is doing well. We found out yesterday that she will have some radiation during our next visit on December 12. The radiation oncologist is concerned about a spot on the femur that may eventually fracture calling for extensive surgery and a painful and difficult rehab so he will do three
radiation treatments on her leg and three on her shoulder which has been extremely painful. We will have to stay at CTCA for a week which will eat up some of our donation money. She just learned that she will owe $18,000 unless she can get some of that taken off her bill since her insurance denied most of it. Some days we feel like we are drowning with all the expenses but we need to keep a positive outlook. We thank you all once again for your donations and ask again that you keep sharing our page. God bless you

We just got back from CTCA .....again. All the travel is exhausting. Cathy is feeling the effects of her medications. The hot flashes from the estrogen blockers are always in the evening and at night and the little sleep she has had is interrupted now. Her body can't possibly heal without sleep. The Ibrance makes her so tired and the fatigue plus no sleep isn't a good combination. She is having pain in her right shoulder where she has metastasis. During our next visit which will be in four weeks she is scheduled to see a radiation oncologist to find out if he thinks she can get relief from radiation to that shoulder. The reality of all this has hit home but we are both still in the fight mode. Cathy is determined to give all she's got to stay with her boys. We strive to stay positive regardless of all the negatives when you have a stage four diagnosis. We continue to meet patients at the cancer center who are encouraging and always ready to talk and share their stories with us. I am looking forward to the day when they add Cathy's name to the tree of five year survivors. In the meantime, the campaign will keep going as we are still getting donations here and there. We are far from what we need but we trust that God will speak to hearts and we will eventually reach our goal. God bless you for your prayers and please keep sharing our page.
