Hello! My name is Daia Hiramatsu. I'm a 17 year old vocal percussionist/beatboxer from Japan who was lucky enough to make it into A Cappella Academy this year.
Accapella has been my passion ever since I came across a video of Pentatonix performing their "Daft Punk" medley. It took me a while to realize that every note and beat had been produced by their mouths, and their mouths alone. Kevin's beat-boxing blew me away - I couldn't wrap my mind around the way he replicated the sounds of the drum. From that moment on, I was inspired to pick up beat-boxing myself. Over time, I honed my skills, and before long, I found myself creating my own covers and arrangements.
A Cappella Academy is special place, a place where I feel I belong, but it isn't cheap. With the tuition of $1995 and plane tickets from Japan to LA.
