On Thursday November 19th I was returning home from the Kitsune' Showcase at Golden Box where I had been taking pictures when a man approached me as I was exciting my car. He was asking for help, although what for exactly, I am unsure. He eventually asked me to drive him to Union Station for $50 at which point I said no and turned my back on him.
At that point I believe he struck the side of my head knocking me unconscious and proceeded to kick me in the face and head while I was unconscious. He then went through my pockets and stole my phone, wallet and keys. He then stole my 2004 Scion, which at this point still contained the camera I use to make my living as an event photographer, a Canon 5d Mark 3 with 24-105mm lens and a Yongnuo 565II flash.
I pieced this story together from information given to me by a bypasser who had witnessed the ordeal and called the police. Bloody and confused, I was transported to Kaiser Permanente by ambulance. Once there I recieved a CT scan and x-ray that revealed I had suffered a concussion, broken nose and a clavicle broken in three places. (as well as a few chipped teeth)
As a relatively young freelancer my insurance for both my body and posessions is inadequate. While the police believe there is a decent probabilty in retrieving my car the same cannot be said for my camera.
This attack has left me physically unable to work and has stripped me of the necessary tools of my business I had worked hard for and struggled to afford.
Thanks to my family, my immediate needs are being met. However the true cost of my ordeal will not be realized until later.
Your donation will go towards my medical bills and replacement of the essential tools of my photography business. Working in the arts and photography has been a lifelong dream. Although I believe set backs are essential to learning and growing, nothing prepared me for my current situation.
