Team Justin

Justin Vasquez is 26 years old and a Palm City, Florida native. Justin grew up with a loving and supportive family, who has always stood by his side in everything he has accomplished.
From the beginning, Justin had a love for baseball. This love started from the Martin County Little League, to Martin County High School, to Belmont Abbey College, a private Division 2 college in North Carolina. Justin graduated in 2012 with his Bachelor's in Sports Management, but his love for baseball continued. He started his professional baseball career in 2013 in the Frontier League, where his career blossomed with the Schamburg Boomers, while also working part-time for his parents business during the off season. While playing this past season with the Boomers, Justin was feeling more fatigued than usual, as well as having a nagging cough that only got worse as the season continued. His body was warning him that something was not quite right and he decided to get checked out. After many biopisies and different testing done both locally and at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Justin was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal Large B Cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma on August 26,2015. He is now in the process of receiving chemotherapy treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center, where he temporary resides for the duration of his treatment.

When our son Justin was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma a few months ago, our world forever changed.

Hospital stays, weekly clinic visits, the effects of chemotherapy and the constant possibility of unexpected hospital admissions mean stress and exhaustion for all of us.

It’s a hard time in our lives, to say the least. But the amazing outpouring of support from our friends and family has gone a long way to make it easier.

Our family is so blessed and believe we have found the best care for our son here at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. While a family member with cancer receives treatment it truly is the entire family that experiences it. We can truly say that there is no way that we, as a family, could endure the emotions, treatments, etc. without the support from our new family members through the hospital, our friends, family and neighbors in our community.

Justin is undergoing 6 cycles of chemotherapy, 5 days in the hospital and 1 day as outpatient. He has completed 2 cycles and is now on his 3rd cycle at the Moffitt. To date he has done well. His oncologist and cardiologist have kept a close eye on him from the beginning. We are so proud of the way he has handled everything that has been thrown at him over the past few months. He is an amazing fighter and can teach us all a thing or two about courage, faith and strength.

As you may know, there are many expenses such as co-pays, insurance deductible, prescription regime, travel, and stays away from home. There is no real financial “goal” at this point like they ask for on this fund, considering all of this was found out a few months ago so the road ahead is uncertain for us, and only known by God. So this page was set up for friends and family to provide any financial support they can. No amount is too small. Please share our request for help with anyone you wish.
