Help us buy a boat!

Help Kawsay sail into 2019 by donating towards a much needed boat! From carrying food supplies, equipment and transporting new students and volunteers, this boat will be Kawsay’s lifeline to the outside world and will make a huge difference to everyday life at the biological station.




Founded in 2017 and located in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon along the Madre de Dios river, the Kawsay Biological Center is a non profit organisation built to offer research opportunities for students and volunteers. Unlike many biological stations across the world Kawsay offers stays with full support for Peruvian and Latin American students who otherwise can not afford it.




Kawsay works to educate and inspire others through the experience of temporarily living in the most biodiverse region on the planet, whilst making important advances in scientific research. From documenting the behaviour of spider monkeys, conducting phenology studies, mapping bat species, setting camera traps, to creating new research projects - at Kawsay there’s a place for everyone.

Any donation no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated, together we can make a difference.




The boat we're hoping to buy is an aluminium boat of 8-10 meters which costs around 10,000+ soles (a wooden boat is cheaper however it would need to be replaced every 3-5 years). We'll also need to buy an outboard motor of 40hp (Parrsun model) which costs about 10,000 (one of the cheapest models on the market.

EVERYONE THAT DONATES WILL HAVE THEIR NAME/COUNTRY PAINTED ON THE SIDE OF THE BOAT! We also have the following on offer for specific donations:

*WE WILL GIVE A FINAL REPORT TO ALL OF YOU DETAILING HOW THE MONEY WAS SPENT. Any additional money that is raised above the cost of the boat/motor will be used to cover other expenses our the station or support our project.
