Heel to Heal 5K Fundraiser

Donation protected

Depsite the advances in healthcare in our nation and the implementation of the ACA, there are people in our country who cannot afford to seek medical care. From our neighbors down the street in hometown Atlanta to those that work 15+ hour days in fields to pick the produce we eat, millions of people go without basic care each day. Our nation's food system heavily depends on the work of migrant farmworkers, but in return, offers little in the way of accessible healthcare for workers and their familes. The South Georgia Farmworker's Health Project seeks to fill that void using a mobile outreach model to set up treatment centers right in the fields. Emory faculty and students treat everything from chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, to musculoskeletal disorders and acute injuries.

The funds raised from this campaign will support the annual Heel to Heal Superhero 5K Fundraiser Run and 100% of all monies raised are donated to the South Georgia Farmworker's Project as well as the Good Samaritan Clinic and HEALing Community Center. This run is sponsored by the Emory Physician Assistant class of 2017 and will be held on Saturday April 23rd, 2016 at 10am at the Emory SAAC field and Lullwater Preserve.
