Who we are!
We are HelpAWS (Help Animal Welfare in St. Lucia), an organization dedicated to animal welfare in Saint Lucia that was founded by Charlene Penney in the fall of 2013.
In a nutshell, we provide shelter and care for stray, injured, and abandoned animals before having them sterilized and adopted. (Find out more at www.HelpAWS.com )
We also run free spay and neuter clinics every six months for the island of St Lucia as a way to tackle the overpopulation of stray cats and dogs (our most recent clinic successfully spayed/neutered over 350 animals in 6 days!)
Currently we are caring for 24 Dogs and 10 Cats full-time.

Why we are raising funds!
On Friday the 12th of February, seven puppies were found abandoned on the side of a road in the middle of the night.
Their eyes were barely open but they had already been cruelly taken from their mother and thrown away like garbage in a tiny red plastic crate.
When we found them they were covered in their own excrement and whoever had dumped them left them with no water and dry crackers as their only source of food.

We immediately picked up the puppies then fed and cleaned them before making them a comfy bed to rest in. They were so exhausted that they slept through the first night without a peep.
There are 4 girls and 3 boys in the group; they are about 3 weeks and will need to bottle fed for the next few weeks.
All of the puppies were covered in fleas and ticks and are very small for ther age. Two of the puppies are not eating and have bloody stool, puppies at this age without their mother are at a high risk of not getting enough nutrients and dying.
How you can help!
We are raising CAD$2,500 to provide these puppies with the vet care that they need and to cover the cost to care for them as they grow older.
Currently, we have limited funds and the sooner we can raise the funds the better as they need to visit the vet as soon as possible.
Here is what your contribution can help pay for: -
Vetrinary Costs:
CAD$20 = De-worming
CAD$125 = Vaccination
CAD$100 = Male Neutering
CAD$165 = Female Spaying
Total: 4 Female Puppies = CAD$1,240
3 Male Puppies = CAD$735
Living Costs:
CAD$50 = Puppy milk formula (3 needed)
CAD$50 = Case of wet food (2 needed)
CAD$65 = Dry puppy food (2 bags once they grow larger)
Total: CAD$380
Grand Total: $1,240 + $735 + $380 = CAD$2,355
We are hoping to raise a little over our budgeted amount to have a funds available for any emeregencies that may arise with the puppies. Any funds not required for the immediate care of the puppies will be used to care for our other animals.
What this will mean to us!
Animal welfare has been our dream and passion for the past 8 years. Ever since we saw the situation in St Lucia, with many animals suffering on the side of the road and the deserpate need for help,we made it our mission to improve the lives of animals on the island.
Unfortunately those costs are often high and as a result, I have had to work a fulltime job in order to support all our rescue efforts. 100% of what I make at my job goes towards saving and neutering animals in Saint Lucia.
It is still not enough, we are in desperate need of donations to help support our cause and allows us to continue to operate and do what we do!
These seven puppies are our most recent serious case that we are facing but there will always be more animals to help so please share our organisation with your friends so we can continue to grow and connect with people globally.
