Isaiah's New Ride
The purchase of an accessible van will allow Isaiah to more easily travel with his large motorized wheelchair and be more independent. He could ride alongside his mom and dad at the grocery store or explore the racetrack with his grand-pop instead of being pushed around in a stroller.
If you find it in your heart to donate please know the funds will 100 percent go toward the cost of the van. The state of New Jersey will pick up a majority of the $70,000 price tag for the new van and handicap accessible modifications, but as part of the program Isaiah’s family needs to raise about $20,000 upfront. The money will cover the down payment and the cost of monthly payments for a year until the state funding starts.
Thank you in advance for your donations. By working together we can get Isaiah his new ride and the independence he deserves.
We got our new van on Saturday June 20, 2015. Between the Go fund Me page, Isaiah's school, Family, Friends, & Strangers we have raised a total of $19,500 for this van. This was enough to put 10% down and enough to make the monthly payment for 12 months! It should take about 8-10 months for the NJ state catastrophic fund to reimburse their amount.
First and foremost I want to give all the glory to God! I trusted HIM when HE said GO and HE has done nothing but take the wheel and bless this whole need of a van! Again HIS timing is PERFECT. We got the van 4 days before leaving for St. Louis for Isaiah's surgery so when we come back easier does not begin to explain our life with this van especially with him being fragile when we return from surgery.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to help us get this van. Without you also listening to God nudge to give we would not be where we are so THANK YOU!
Please keep Isaiah in your prayers during his surgery. His surgery will be June 26 most likely in the morning. The first 3 days will be rough painful recovery for him so pray extra hard those days. I will try to post a short update on his surgery status this weekend.
Enjoy a few pictures of ISAIAH'S NEW RIDE!!!
Last update, I talked about how hard it was putting our trust in God and starting this whole process for Isaiah in November. God continues to show His awesome Hand in this all and His timing is ALWAYS perfect! Not only did we start the process for the van but the timing of it all is perfection. As I posted before Isaiah is having surgery (selective dorsal rhizotomy) on June 26 in St. Louis. Currently, Mobility Works says we are on track to have the new van (2015 Toyota Sienna) delivered before we leave for his surgery June 24th and worse case we will have it as soon as we return on July 2nd . God knows what Isaiah needs and knows how much it will help us for transporting him to and from therapy after surgery.
As I was inquiring about receiving the money that Isaiah’s school raised for him I was made aware that they have 2 more fundraisers planned to continue to add to their amount. They are doing a 7/8 grade students vs teachers basketball game on June 2nd and all money made will go to Isaiah’s new ride and a 5th grade walk during their field day on June 17th. I am also excited for the House party Fitnessco LLC fundraiser that Isaiah’s teacher Ms. Blair is organizing on June 13 @ the Lucille Roberts in Audobon NJ. Here is the link for if you would like to come: https://www.facebook.com/events/638847429549493/648363465264556/
With Isaiah’s surgery a month away, I have been holding tight to this verse as thoughts and fears try to creep in about all these decisions (are we doing the right thing?) But God gave me this verse to hold onto and give me comfort.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 ESV
And lastly, this song has also been a comfort to me as I continue to trust that He is ALREADY THERE!
I have been so overwhelmed by the generosity of others. Starting this fundraising was not easy for me and Adam. Questioning God "We can't beg people for money?" But as I began to trust and know this is what God wanted us to do and put it in His hands the blessings that have come have been overwhelming.
The amount that is on the Go Fund Me page is just a portion of what we have raised. Isaiah's middle school raised $5,100 in the month of March for him. AMAZING! We also have many donations that were not given online and I'm blessed to say we are standing right now at $10,000. We also have a few more events in the works to continue raising the rest for Isaiah. So please check back for more details soon.
God is in control of all of this!
This verse has been my refuge :
"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1-2)
Thank you again to everyone who has been supporting, organizing and donating for help us!
And of course a song to sum it all up!
For King and Country - Shoulders
We decided to do the SDR surgery and are scheduled to head to St. Louis June 24 and surgery will be June 26. I am nervous yet at peace. I know this is what God wants us to do for Isaiah and He is going to make something beautiful from this.
Our second decision is we ordered his new wheelchair and are now in the insurance waiting period. We are hoping to get the chair maybe before surgery but definitely in July.
With that being said both those decisions are still very much linked to Isaiah being more independent and in even more need for an accessible van. After his surgery we will need to carry him for transfers for at least the first 4 weeks after surgery so it would be awesome to get the van so he can ride in his wheelchair (hopefully new one) in the van which will prevent us from having to lift him. Please share and donate if you can so this can happen for Isaiah. We are so grateful for the support we are receiving from his school and community. It’s overwhelming!
Steven Curtis Chapman – Something Beautiful
Please listen! This song is being claimed in my life in so many ways but for Isaiah its God’s Promise!
