Free Gym For Low Income Women
Donation protected
Hello,
I am SyAnn Preston, a mom of two that was an athlete in school, but lost sight of the importance of fitness after having children. In 2015, I made a commitment to myself to get healthy and stay healthy. Two years later, I've reaped amazing physical, mental and emotional benefits from my healthy lifestyle and I want to share my knowledge with other women. So what did I do?
I started hosting fitness classes in the park for a fee. I quickly realized two things, woman really wanted to come but didn't have the means and I am more passionate about creating a positive community among women through fitness.
So what did I do...next? I started FREE fitness classes for women this spring and summer. Still there is one thing I noticed... Some women are left out.
Women in low income communities are faced with a lot more obstacles than other women, things like transportation, finances, and childcare trump fitness. So should that mean they lose access to the option of being a member of a fitness community? No way!
I have recently decided to pursue opening a nonprofit gym for women in low income areas. Ideally I want to build a gym a low income neighborhood, so transportation isn't a problem. I also want to offer childcare.
I'm in the very beginning stages but fundraising is a huge way for me to make this happen. I want the gym to be will be completely FREE for women in low income communities but as you can imagine that means there's a lot of work to do.
Starting with filing nonprofit documents with the IRS, and like anything IRS related there's a fee! That's where your donation comes plays a huge part!
In the future, I'm going to need gym equipment, daycare equipment and a lot donated. If you have any gems of knowledge please reach out my email is [email redacted]. I believe all women should have an opportunity in fitness.
Please take a look at my Instagram to learn more about my @Syannalexa.
Thank you for your time.
Best,
SyAnn Preston
