A family that is a part of our local community has suffered an unexpected tragedy.
Whilst pregnant with their 3rd child, Samantha and Simon Daff were told their first born child who was not quite 4 years old had MLD. An incurable degenerative disease. Ashlee their second born has been spared from this horrible condition. After the birth of their son Jackson, they discovered he also had the disease.
They were told about treatment in Italy that Jackson could be a candidate for because of his age.. He was accepted, money was raised, the Family home and some possessions were sold in order to take Jackson to Italy for this groundbreaking treatment.
MacKenzie has received a standard stem cell transplant here in Perth as she did not qualify for the treatment in Milan.
Two years later, the family who continue to prepare themselves for one or both children’s decline, have suffered a tragic blow with the very sudden death of their son Jackson. His death is unrelated to MLD, which makes this harder to comprehend if that is even possible.
We know that the family will need financial assistance in order to have a funeral for their beautiful little boy as all previous funds raised have been used to pay for the treatment and follow up care in Italy.
Please donate whatever ever you are able to. The Daff family will receive ALL of the money raised which we know will help them during this unthinkable time.
As a reminder to anyone suffering let us all come together to show support and help by doing whatever we can. The world needs more of us banding together and becoming one. There is never a good time to bear loss, I know first hand how hard this time of year is when overshadowed by tragedy. I saw the very best of humanity 4 years ago on the 20th of this month when my husband suffered a fatal accident and we are now reaching out to see people come together once again and give back.
