ABOUT THE CENTER
The center was conceived as a permanent space to showcase Guyanese heritage, to encourage creativity among Guyanese youth in Brooklyn and beyond, and to support intergenerational dialogue. It also offers training and learning opportunities in the creative arts. The center also hosts exhibitions, displays, and performances.
The center advances GCA’s objective to be an important hub for the study and celebration of Guyanese heritage and creativity.
HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED:
• DANCE PROGRAMS: Ages: 6-35
provide students of all ages the opportunity to experience dance in a context that values the creative process.
ADULT DANCE CLASSES: offer an adult “Fitness & Wellness Workshop as well as Ballroom Dancing classes.
• MO BRAFF PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM:
Ages: 6-65 - students will have opportunities to learn acting exercises and techniques as well as the technical aspects to executing a play or production.
THE MUSIC PROGRAMS: Ages: 6-35
Provide a high quality, flexible music education program for all young people interested in music: piano, tabla, sitar, African drums, flute, trumpet, violin, saxophone and other instruments, as well as chorus. Students will have the opportunity to play with and learn from the best musicians in the diaspora. This is also an opportunity to pass on our musical traditions to a younger generation.
• DIGITAL PRODUCTION: Ages: 18-35
Writers, producers, directors, camera operators, lighting technicians, and others are modern storytellers with a knack for putting that technology to work, taking projects from concept to captured images. Students will learn to tell their own stories: They’ll have the opportunity to collaborate on projects to gain experience working as part of an artistic team.

Most talented young creative persons' dream is simple: to be given the opportunity to develop their talent. “Opportunity” means a training program where they can study their craft with dedicated professional coaches who will guide them as they grow.
