Hi!
My name is Cathi Newlin.
I'm a potter and sculptor who has recently moved to Portland, Oregon. I've been working at my craft for about 10 years, now, and the last 4 years have seen the fruits of my labors realized in the form of entrance into major juried shows and some exciting interest from galleries and patrons.
I'm very fortunate to have a wonderful new studio in which to work, and some signifigant tools of the trade to use, not the least of which is mylarge downdraft kiln. It's allowed me to work larger and more efficiently and that freedom is reflected in my art.
But Kilns need to be protected from the elements - especially the rain, and our move to Portland means we see an abundance of "liquid sunshine". Challenging stuff for a ceramic artist.
That's where you come in!
I'm needing a roof over my kiln yard. It will allow me to have easier access to my kilns, while protecting the kilns, shelves, instruments and other equipment from the rain. It will also add another layer of safety to an activity that, by its nature, calls forgreat care.
Like most artists, it's feast or famine as far as sales go, and I'm not yet at the point of breaking even in that department, so I'm looking to GoFundMe to help me raise enough money to purchase a metal patio cover for my kiln yard. The one linked to is a good option for me. I've rounded up to $1500 to account for delivery, as well as any permits, anchors or other hardware that will be needed.
Its my hope that you all will believe in me enough, and be enticed by the incentives enough to feel chipping in is worthwhile.Everyone who kicks in gets a shoutout on my FaceBook page !
