Guine's Rebirth Day

the facts:
My younger sister, talented leather designer and puerto rican artist, Guinevere Rodriguez! has! left! her! abuser! (*sound the f*cking airhorns !!*). AND on July 25th, Guine will be turning 23 and starting a new life in Boston. For her, moving means safety, autonomy, and growth. Reestablishing yourself after domestic violence is hard and expensive, and she needs help!
the plan:
She will be taking over the 3rd bedroom in my apartment, working in the service industry, and doing freelance leatherwork on the side. Guine has short-term goals of finding a therapist and financial empowerment coach. Long term she’d like to take classes in graphics and business, establish credit, learn Spanish, and find a creative community.
the goal of this page:
To secure housing for Guinevere in Boston, MA!!! Guine wants to get out as soon as possible. She wants to sublease August and then sign the lease for September 1st – May 1st. It is $780 per month. We need to raise enough to cover first (780), last (780), broker (780), august sublease (780), and cleaning fee (100). ~$3,220
how it will work:
With Guine’s consent, I am running this gofundme page. All funds will go to secure Guine’s housing. We need to have all the money for the broker/landlord by Aug 1st to make this happen. If there is anything left over, we will use that money for moving costs/transportation. If there is even extra left over I would love to get her a bed. :)

what Guine wants you to know:
Guine has been calling this her “rebirth” day. It’s a chance to start new, to invest in herself, to put herself first, and to heal. She believes that moving in with my roommate, MJ, and me is the right place to begin healing from that trauma. She is familiar with my apartment and neighborhood, which she feels will ease some of the stress of adjusting to a new place. My presence will offer her an added sense of safety and support as she grows into her independence.
what I want you to know:
Guinevere is the kindest and most nurturing soul I know. She has never asked for anything and is convinced she is a burden. We have talked at length about our boundaries and how to make sure this is a healthy healing space for her. She is searching for autonomy, so I cannot take care of her financially. (We don’t want to swap out one co-dependent relationship for another!!!) She is a killer leather designer and artist. She works so fricken hard and finally is free to pursue her dreams. Anything helps!
