In response to an article in our local paper, a number of people have been asking how they can donate.
If you haven't seen the article, here’s what happened:
Our sister's home was so dangerous that the Department of Human Services removed her children and placed them with our mother.
David’s plan was to help our mother take care of the children so that she could adopt them. For 6 months David helped our mother take care of the children. He bonded with them and they showed a lot of progress. Then our mother died.
Before she died, David was able to tell our mother that he would make sure her grand children were safe. They've been in his care ever since, about 5 1/2 years.
On Monday, July 24, David adopted all five children:
Abi, age 8
Zoe, age 8 (Abi's twin sister)
Sebastian, age 11
Ethan, age 17
Corinne, age 22
It's been quite a journey for us. The kids have been incredibly strong and have made a great deal of progress.
As a surprised single parent of five, David doesn't have the kind of financial security that they need.
These funds will go to seed the Grunklee Trust which is dedicated to meeting the children's financial needs, including attorney's fees. . . and some fun things like a vacation to the coast (which most of the kids have never seen).
